VISITOR'S GUIDE

Powhatan County became an official participant in the lucrative Virginia Tourism Industry in 2005 with its entry into the nationally recognized and acclaimed Virginia Civil War Trails program. Powhatan’s rich Civil War history is interpreted on five historical markers located across the county as part of the “Lee’s Retreat Trail” which describes the final days of Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia. Powhatan is ideally situated for Civil War tourists.
